In this edition of the cup, the competition took place after the conclusion of the league season. After eliminating Athletic Club, Sevilla FC and Celta Vigo, Valencia CF reached their second final -their first since 1934.

Valencia CF, coached by Ramón Encinas, played RCD Español in the final at Chamartín (Madrid), and won through two goals from Mundo and a third from Asensi in the 58th minute. The final score was 1-3 to VCF.

1949 Copa final: Athletic Club 0 vs. 1 Valencia CF
The next cup win for Valencia CF came on May 29th, 1949, again at Chamartín but with a closer scoreline.

Epi would score the only goal of what would be his final match for Valencia CF, giving them a third Copa trophy.
